WOW! I have never heard a voice like that for years. I have watched the PBS special over the holidays and was totally stunned. My music interest is
basically blues and rock, but, I think
that you made me explore the classics.

Renee...I just watched your Christmas special on Ch. 8 (Arizona State Univ.) last evening. I had not heard you perform before...and I was moved to tears by the effortless beauty of your voice and presentation. It always moves me to acknowledge people using their "God blessings" and honor His intentions through that expression.
Your voice is as beautiful as is your physical beauty. Thank you for sharing your gift.
May God continue to bless your life and I look forward to seeing you perform in person when the opportunity presents itself.
Merry Christmas.

Crane School of Music, Son Tim 1989-1993. We're pretty sure we saw you perform with Tim in a couple of operas (he was in the pit). You bio says you went to SUNY as and undergrad, and we remember hearing a remarkable kid singer, and seeing your name, and Tim said yeah, it was this girl from Chili who was a phenom. Only then, she was an alto. I can hear alto in your voice. It's no secret that you have a broad range. I know myself I willed a change from barri to tenor. Tim went on to gig in Michigan for 12 years with Detroit and others, and came back to teach in Webster. We are very glad to see a regular girl doing well on the big circuit. Good for you. And you sure are pretty.

Hello Renee,
Thank you for another wonderful performance at the BARBICAN on Sat 2nd.Your gown was fabulous and the programme was great. You asked me what I liked best and i think it has to be Vissi d'arte but all the programme was amazing.
I was sitting four rows from the front and directly in front of you, it was an unforgettable evening. Can't wait for Thais.
Best wishes for the future, and have a "restful" Xmas. I am sure you deserve to.

I just finished reading your book, which I found thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. Although I am not a singer in any sense, it was most fascinating to gain some understanding of your approach to singing, most especially the technical aspects and your emphasis on state of mind.
I have enjoyed those recordings of yours which I have, and I assure you that the book gives me an insight which will heighten my appreciation.
Thank you for your work. I only hope my grandchildren will be able, as they grow, to find a similar dedication to their chosen fields of endeavor.

Last night’s (Aug 3) National Symphony Orchestra + Rene Fleming concert at Wolftrap Park in Northern Virginia was an absolutely stunning experience. Even the weather participated. It was unbearably hot – by 7 PM it was still in the upper 90s and no air moving. I sat through a pre-concert presentation by one of the local music critics who discussed the music to be presented. The sunset in the west was gorgeous – high puffy clouds and some “god sunbeams” shining through.
The concert began at 8:15 and opened with the National Symphony playing The Sorceror’s Apprentice followed by The Moonlight Sonatra. The conductor had opened with a brief comment about how hot it was and how the last time Rene came to DC she sang through a huge storm but the weathermen had promised that today’s heat would break by 9 PM. Then he turned and started the Sorceror’s Apprentice. As the music built, lightning and thunder started in the west. As the music built, the lightning and thunder got closer. Then loud cracks of thunder and all hell broke loose. Rain fell as though the heavens had turned on a fire hose – it was so hard it was blowing sideways. It looked as though the flag at the theatre entrance was going to be torn off its pole. Umbrellas were uprooted and rolled across the lawn. Still the orchestra played on. People ran to get under the covered area. Some people just pulled plastic over their heads and sat gamely in the downpour. Still the orchestra played … and, just as the orchestra played the last notes, a huge clap of thunder crackled and roared overhead – and everything went dark! The audience went wild!
We waited in the dark for 15 or 20 minutes while the engineers tried to bring up emergency generators and stage hands raised fabric screens on the sides to protect the lighting. With work lights partially lighting the stage, the orchestra played an ethereal “Clair de Lune.“ Then Rene Fleming floated onstage in an incredible green silk dress (fitted bodice with one of her signature sweeping skirts) and stepped up next to the podium. There were no spotlights – just work lights. She proceeded to sing an incredible piece that left the audience screaming. Then it was intermission and the stage hands worked feverishly to bring up the full lighting. They succeeded. The second half of the concert was equally compelling – It opened with an incredible NSO performance of Ravel's passionate Daphnis et Chloé, Ms Fleming sang several stunningly-performed operatic pieces with summer themes. The finale was amazing – the audience would not let Rene leave – she came back for 5 encores. At one point, she thanked the audience saying “We didn’t think you’d come tonight - it was so hot." During one encore, I Could Have Danced All Night, she had the audience sing along! She finished with “The Last Rose of Summer.”
I had treated myself really great seat (instead of buying my usual lawn seat!). I found myself in a "PIT" seat which turned out to be a chair set up in the 3rd row of the space that is usually the orchestra pit! I had the middle seat - directly in front of the stage. I was about 10-12 feet from Ms Fleming and the NSO conductor…. What a night!

Thank You for writing this wonderful book.

I am a 2006 graduate of the Crane School of Music and I was fortunate enough to meet you at the benefit concert at the Riverside Baptist Church. A couple of my fellow Cranies and I used to buy $25 nosebleed seats at the Met, leave Potsdam in the morning, see the show at night and drive back for class the next morning. We saw you in La Traviata, Rusalka, and Rodelinda and they were all truly fantastic. I hope to see you in Eugene Onegin this coming season...I LOVE your Russian diction. I hope all is well with you and your family.
Take care,

My wife and I, along with another couple, flew to Honolulu to see your Friday night performance. You were stunning... magical... transcendent... Words are inadequate to describe how we felt.

Looking at your schedule, I'm wondering if we have to visit Japan just to see you in another concert. Perhaps you will book a concert in the Los Angeles area. I will be the first person in line.
All the best!

Renée, I saw your performance with Honolulu Symphony tonight and you took my breath away. Your beautiful voice, which has been acknowledged around the world, was amazing and you looked absolutely stunning in your gowns. It was a magical moment that I haven't felt for a long time. Thank you.
Aloha.

Ouch Russell that was cold. Although I didn't really enjoy that particular CD I'm not going to complain about something she's wanted to do for years.

Good afternoon to you,
As below - from your website - Where can I get this DVD - I saw this on the BBC, I cannot find the DVD
In November 1998, she starred in The Marriage of Figaro at the Metropolitan Opera, conducted by James Levine and co-starring Cecilia Bartoli and Bryn Terfel. The New York Times said of her performance on the first night: "'Porgi amor' was a flood of beautiful sound; the climactic tones of 'Dove sono' made the body tingle."

I saw Renee last night in Iowa City, Iowa and it was amazing. Her voice fantastic as usual and she just looked beautiful. She really has no idea of what an amazing gift she brought it all the students and singers last night. Here in Iowa we are not often exposed to a talent of her level.
Thank you so much Renee!!!!

Haunted Heart - what a mistake. I adore Ms Fleming's voice and interpretation - have a huge collection but this album is a big "no-no". What on earth did Ms F think she was doing - those dreadful cover versions, that awful rendition of Liebst du um Schönheit. I cannot bear to listen to it. After putting the CD aside for a couple of months, I tried it again yesterday and had to run screaming from the room - sloppy phrasing, awful German. Please, please don't do this again but keep producing the usual standard of divine performance!

Dear Renee,
I just recently discovered your beautiful music and voice from The Lord of the Rings soundtrack. There are no word to describe such beauty. I plan to buy some of your albums because of the glorious sound of your voice in that soundtrack.
What a gift you have to be able to inspire and move the soul of so many beings with such beauty that it is almost difficult to contain.
Also, I got a little 'catch' in my soul (chest/heart) and throat when I scrolled down the homepage and saw the "Get Caught Reading" photo of you. There you are holding one of the most wonderful and treasured books of my childhood -- same edition and cover -- Misty of Chincoteague by Marguerite Henry. I was an absolute horse nut growing up and I loved all of her books and read them again and again. I also loved the illustrations by Wesley Dennis. I even drew a few of them (although I was too young to know about plagiarism at the time, but I didn't sell them anyway ...) The Black Stallion series were also some of my horse book favorites during my youth. I wonder if you personally picked that book to hold for the photo because you have a special connection with it? I like to think so -- it's more romantic a notion than that someone just handed you any book to hold for the photo ~smile~
Thank you for adding your own special and unique beauties to this world and reality.
Wishing you joy, abundance in all things that honor you and life, and all your dreams come true, forever and ever and ever!
(p.s. I wish this for everyone . . .)
